Foster Care, Kinship & Adoption

Engaging the orphan crisis in Arizona.

Contact Us

As we read through scripture, caring for vulnerable is close to the heart of
God and therefore should be for his people. Here in Arizona one of these areas we most visibly see the see the need of the vulnerable is in our foster care system. There are 13,000+ children currently in the foster care system and in need of nurturing  homes. Additionally there are around 3,000 children in Arizona waiting to be adopted.

It is our desire, as the people of God, to lead the way in recognizing
this great need and stepping into in the midst of broken families to provide foster and adoptive homes for these children. We deeply desire the restoration of these children with their families and we celebrate the redemption of new families being created and ultimately hope for healing only Christ can

The state simply does not have enough foster homes to care for them all and they
are asking for the church’s help.

Redemption Church Foster Care , Kinship and Adoption Ministry was formed in 2012. It was designed to mobilize families and individuals that God has called to become foster and adoptive families. The ministry also was created to support current foster parents, kinship families and adoptive parents through support groups at individual congregation.

We believe that not everyone is called to foster and/or adopt, but everyone is called to do something. As a result we strive to connect individuals who want to support foster/kinship/adoptive families to state organizations and through church events and supports.

We look forward to answering your questions and to walking alongside you in this journey.

"Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world." - James 1:27

Get Involved

We believe that children need families and families need support.

For families who are interested or in the the process of becoming foster and adoptive families, and kinship families seeking to become licensed we provide faith based training prior to becoming licensed.  We work, as a founding church, and in collaboration with Arizona 1.27  to provide a supportive and interactive Pathway to becoming licensed. Redemption Church host Orientation and Basic Training at multiple congregations to best helps prepare you and your family for this journey.

Orientation is an introduction to foster care, adoption and support in Arizona. We cover a variety of topics from the basics of becoming licensed, other ways to support and the unique reason that God calls us as his people to care for the vulnerable kids and families of our state.

Basic Training

Basic Training is a one-day faith-based training that serves as an introduction to the ministry of foster care and adoption. Prospective/current foster and adoptive families will be introduced to a Biblical view on foster care and adoption and help you decide if this is the season for you to pursue taking in a child from a hard place and resource you if you already have a placement.

For our families that are currently engaged as foster parents, kinship and adoptive families who desire a community. We believe firmly that foster care and adoption is best done with community and ongoing training is empowering and encouraging.

Support Group

Support Groups are a wonderful opportunity to meet and interact with other foster, kinship and adoptive families. We host support groups currently at 6 of our Redemption congregations. Our groups consist of fellowship, training, and pastoral care.

Classes and Trainings

In partnership with agencies and organizations in our communities, we will offer additional classes and trainings for families outside of our support groups.  Many of these will allow for you to maintain your foster care license by providing state required certification. Currently we are working with Arizona 1.27 to bring a attachment based parenting training.
