Foster Care, Kinship & Adoption

Engaging the orphan crisis in Arizona.

Contact Us

There is an orphan crisis around the world. Children who have lost parents, been abandoned by parents, or been taken out of dangerous environments, are in need of stable homes and loving families. James tells us that caring for vulnerable children such as these is close to the heart of God. Therefore we, the people of God, must lead the way in recognizing this great need and stepping up to meet it. This issue is very near to us. Arizona has a massive foster care crisis, with thousands of children in the foster care system. The state simply does not have enough homes to care for them all and they are asking for the church’s help. One of the ways we have responded is to join other churches in Arizona in a movement called AZ127 (based on James 1:27). Its purpose is to educate people on the great need in front of us and aid those interested in foster care and adoption to navigate the process. You can learn more at AZ127 is a broad movement that we support. But in order to come alongside and mobilize the people of Redemption Church, we have formed a ministry for those who are currently involved in foster care or interested in getting involved. Simply put, we are calling our church to engage the great need by taking children into our homes by fostering or adopting. In addition, and just as important, we are calling our church to relationally support families who choose to open their homes. Both of these efforts fall under what we are calling “Redemption Foster Care and Adoption”.

"Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world." - James 1:27

Get Involved

Our ongoing goals with Foster Care and Adoption at Redemption Church are to mobilize and support families who are interested in Foster Care and Adoption. We firmly believe that children need families and families need support. Redemption Church offers various opportunities throughout the year to mobilize and support families.

For families who are interested or beginning the process to pursue God’s call to become Foster Families, we provide faith based training prior to becoming licensed.  We have found that this pathway of classes (Orientation, Basic Training, and PSMAPP)  best helps prepare you in advance as a Foster Family.

Orientation is an introduction to foster care, adoption and support in Arizona.  In collaboration with AZ127, Orientation is done in partnership with Kids Consortium (an association of all the Maricopa County foster and adoption agencies). Because of this partnership our Orientation will be accepted at any agency if a family chooses to move forward in the licensing process.

Basic Training

Basic Training is a one-day faith-based training that serves as an introduction to the ministry of foster care and adoption. Prospective/current foster and adoptive families will be introduced to a Biblical view on foster care and adoption and help you decide if this is the season for you to pursue taking in a child from a hard place and resource you if you already have a placement.

Information for families available in supporting their journey of Foster Care and Adoption:

Support Group

Support Groups are a wonderful opportunity to meet and interact with other families who have been called into the ministry of Foster Care and Adoption in some capacity.  Some Redemption campuses will offer support groups on site while others partner with other churches throughout the community.

Classes and Trainings

In partnership with agencies and organizations in our communities, we will offer additional classes and trainings for families.  Many of these will allow for you to maintain your foster care license by providing state required certification.

If you are interested in or are currently involved in Foster Care and/or Adoption, please fill out the following form for our ministry list.  This will enable us to communicate with you in regards to your specific needs. To see upcoming events, CLICK HERE
